If you are looking for cheap California auto insurance, you are in the best place. But there are a few things you need to know beforehand.
In 2006, the California Vehicle Financial Responsibility Law changed the law on the way the Department of Motor Vehicles verifies insurance for privately owned automobiles.
Particular changes were made to make sure that all vehicles driven on California roads have liability insurance that provides financial responsibility for any damage or injury caused by a traffic accident. The changing of the law was also to ensure removal of uninsured vehicles from California roads.
California auto insurance companies are now required by law to electronically report private vehicle insurance information to DMV.
California auto insurance companies are not legally required to electronically report information for vehicles covered by commercial or business insurance policies. Customers whose vehicles are covered by this sort of policy will have to submit paper proof of their auto insurance when it's required for registration renewal or if a vehicle is registered in their name for the first time in California.
So check your policy again or talk to your agent or broker to make sure you have the necessary liability insurance cover for each vehicle you own. It is always better to be safe than sorry.
Cheap California auto insurance is relatively easy to come by but make sure you are suitably covered.
