The California Low Cost Automobile Insurance Program (CLCAIP) is a new initiative that offers Californians low cost, reduced limit automobile liability coverage. In fact, it can lower your rates by around 20%.
This initiative allows citizens living in the counties of Los Angeles and San Francisco to qualify for cheap California auto insurance.
To qualify, you need to have a household income, driving record, and vehicle purchased value.
This gives several consumer protections associated to buying and maintaining cheap California auto insurance.
It is all to do with being a "Good Driver". A Good Driver is someone who has been licensed for at least 3 consecutive years and has no more than one point on their driving record.
All auto insurance companies licensed in California are required to offer coverage for Good Drivers. If you qualify for this scheme but your preferred company denies your application, then you can contact the California Department of Insurance for further advice.
So if you're on a low income, this is a great way to get cheap California auto insurance.
